Grateful Dead: On Tour

By:
Nikki Chasteen

Description:
Thinking about games and how we play them, it is vital to understand how playing the rules of any given game provides us with useful literacy and communication skills. We don’t know it when we play, but that is what is happening. We become literate in the game we are playing.” The purpose of my project is to create a set of text and digital instructions for game play. The Grateful Dead: On Tour board game is based on Trivial Pursuit. In this game, players travel across country collecting concert ticket stubs by answering questions in four categories.

For games to be played, there must be a set of rules in which users have to guide them during play. It was my aim to create a set of audio, visual, and text-based rules of play for Grateful Dead: On Tour. The rule play aspect is a voice over recording with photos and small clips of the game pieces, and movement on the game board to go along with the text-based rules of play.
