Transmedia Final Project

Materials:
PhotoJoiner; digital images; song and hymn lyrics; book and paper materials; markers and colored pencils

Description:
“Here Within These Walls” explores the relationship between the sacred and the profane, the spiritual and the material in Sister Act (the movie and the musical). While being physically handmade, these “paratexts” require a sort of “spiritual” understanding of the story-world to fully grasp their beauty and significance. The paper dolls illustrate the ideas of gameplay and choice within transmedia to engage devoted fans. The pop-up book’s stain-glass window joins together various visual components from Sister Act, Sister Act II, and Sister Act the Musical. The hymnal explores the marginal notes of both Mother Superior and Sister Marie Clarence as they interact with musical lyrics.
