Professors Pellet and Greenwood Honored

In special recognition of distinguished service to NSU Florida, the HCBE confers the title of Professor Emeritus on Regina A. Greenwood Ph.D. and Pedro Pellet Ph.D.

Department of Management

Widely regarded as a scholar in the area of the history of management thought, Dr. Greenwood served 13 years at NSU as both a faculty member and as an administrator. Her colleagues proudly note that her “academic reputation and impact on the history of management thought, lean manufacturing, the lean enterprise, and managing in the new millennium is renowned, both in this country and abroad.” Dr. Greenwood has been active in research and conference presentations on a wide range of management topics.

With teaching awards from NSU and Kettering University, Dr. Greenwood is widely regarded as a scholar in the area of the history of management thought. She has served as Historian and Archivist, Director of Membership, and Chair of the Management History Division for the Academy of Management. For the North American Management Society, Regina served as Program Chair and President. In addition, she serves on six editorial boards including top journals such as Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies and Journal of Management History, and is the Guest Editor for the Academy of Management Journal Special Forum: “Managing in the New Millennium.”

She has authored 38 scholarly works and donated material to the Ronald G. Greenwood Management History Collection in the NSU Archives. In her thirteen years at NSU Business as Management Department Chair and faculty, she has been highly regarded as a committed faculty member, colleague, and administrator.

Department of Decision Sciences

Pedro Pellet, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Department of Decision SciencesHaving served and/or chaired doctoral dissertation committees both at HCBE and the Health Professions Division, Dr. Pellet also led curriculum development for several undergraduate and graduate-level Economics and Business Statistics courses including executive education. As one of the core faculty for NSU’s international programs in the 80s, Pedro taught in Japan, Germany, and Panama. For 20 years, he taught undergraduate classes, at a time when Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics were required for every undergraduate student regardless of major.

Pedro’s expertise in the social and economic development of underserved populations and Cuban immigrants has been invaluable to the community of South Florida, He has served as a Council Member of the Board of the Dr. Antonio Jorge Social and Economic Development Council providing expertise and recommendations on poverty and economic development of the Miami-Dade County to the mayor of Miami City and Board of Commissioners of the Miami-Dade County. Beyond his 39 years of professional commitment to NSU, his financial contributions to NSU exemplify his personal dedication to the NSU community. Pedro’s colleagues speak of him as “a caring mentor and exemplar scholar” who “always ‘stepped up’ when it came to advising students and fellow faculty colleagues on scholarly endeavors, showing great initiative and leadership in fulfilling his academic responsibilities.
