Dr. Charlene Désir, Professor, Dr. Georgina Argüello, Assistant Dean/Associate Professor, Dr. Rachel Panton, Assistant Professor, NSU Alumna Amenia Farraj, and current student Jalynn Sylvain have published their President’s Research Grant (PRG)-supported study,

“In Their Words: Assessing Undergraduate Intellectual Curiosity Across Home, Classroom, and Digital Landscapes,” in the International Journal on Social and Education Sciences.

This mixed methods research explores how undergraduates experience and express intellectual curiosity across multiple learning environments, providing valuable insights for fostering student engagement in a post-digital era. The findings contribute to the growing scholarship on student development and the evolving dynamics of higher education learning spaces.

Anymir Orellana, EdD, led a collaborative research project as principal investigator, working alongside Elda Kanzki-Veloso, Ph.D.; Georgina Arguello, Ed.D.; and research student Katarzyna Wojnas, M.S. Together, we were awarded NSU’s PFRDG (now referred to as PRG) for a study titled “Students’ Experiences Using Live Captions and Subtitles in Class Presentations.” The project aimed to explore how students experience captions and multilingual subtitles during live online classroom sessions. The findings were published in The Qualitative Report in March 2024, and we presented our work at the TQR 16th Annual Conference in March 2025.
