Emre Kuvvet, PhD, is a professor of Finance whose research critically examines the Federal Reserve’s expanding mandate, often referred to as “mission creep.” His work has garnered significant attention, notably his paper, “What is in the Federal Reserve’s Doomsday Book?”,[1] which was accepted for publication in the Independent Review. This research formed the basis of an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal titled “Sun Shines on Fed ‘Doomsday Book”.[2] This op-ed has been cited in subsequent Wall Street Journal articles, including “Digital Currency and the Fed’s ‘Doomsday Book’”[3] and “What Will the Fed Do in the Next Emergency?”.[4] Furthermore, former Congressman Ron Paul dedicated an episode of his podcast to discussing Dr. Kuvvet’s publication.[5] Dr. Kuvvet’s research has also been featured in The Hill[6] and referenced by prominent think tanks such as the Cato Institute[7] and the Mises Institute[8] on their respective blogs.

In addition, his publication, “Political Affiliations of Federal Reserve Economists,”[9] explores the potential implications of political homogeneity among Federal Reserve economists on the economy. This research also led to a Wall Street Journal op-ed titled “How Politicized is the Federal Reserve?”[10], which has been cited in the Wall Street Journal editorial “The Humbling of the Federal Reserve”[11] and the article “The Censor, the Bureaucrat, and the Fed Economist”[12].
