Ismael Muvingi and Terry Savage contributed a chapter titled “Victims and the Reproduction of Power Relations in Transitional Justice” to the Sage Handbook of Peace and Conflict Studies. According to the Editors, Cécile Mouly and Ji Eun Kim, the chapter is “indeed ground-breaking”.

Dr. Julie Torruellas Garcia, Professor & Dr. Katie Crump, Associate Professor

Research accomplishment:

Drs. Torruellas Garcia and Crump are members of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Science Education Alliance where they collaborate with faculty across the country on both scientific and pedagogical research. As part of the SEA-PHAGES program, they offer Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) for students to participate in research to discover new viruses, called phage, that kill bacteria for potential use as alternatives treatments for antibiotic resistant infection. In 2023, 6 new phages were discovered that infect the bacterium Gordonia rubripertincta, 2 of which had their genomes sequenced and annotated (see below).
