Get to Know DoR: Sue Breno, CCRC
Sue Breno, CCRC, is the Manager of the Office of Clinical Research within the NSU Division of Research & Economic Development (DoR).
What role do you play at the NSU Division of Research & Economic Development?
My role in the Office of Clinical Research is to provide NSU Principal Investigators and research staff with administrative assistance and guidance with on-boarding Industry sponsored clinical trials which involve testing new medications or medical devices. I ensure all ethical practices and legal protocols are followed and that any required paperwork is filled out completely and accurately. I also serve as the Clinicaltrials.gov Administrator for NSU, assisting Principal Investigators with registering and maintaining their study record on Clinicaltrials.gov.
What was your journey that brought you to NSU?
I started my career in 1978 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland Ohio as a Senior Medical Desk Receptionist. In 1988, I transferred to Fort Lauderdale as one of 55 key positions to help establish the Cleveland Clinic Florida in Fort Lauderdale. I began clinical research coordinating in 1991. Cleveland Clinic Florida re-located to Weston, Florida in 2001. In 2009, I began employment at Nova Southeastern University as a Clinical Research Coordinator in what was the newly established Office of Clinical Research.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work at NSU?
I enjoy my 4 rescue cats, going to classic muscle car shows, watching classic movies, listening to classic rock, a day at the beach and traveling to visit my family in Colorado.
