To gain a deeper understanding of what to expect from the coaching process, here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about Project RISE coaching.

How can a Project RISE coach support me and my program?

Based on your needs and desires, coaching can enable you to:

  • elevate your “thinking and doing” activities to be more engaging and effective.
  • integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies into your activities.
  • practice additional behavior management strategies.
  • deepen your understanding of the SEL-PQA assessment.
  • ensure the ORF and Maze literacy assessments are administered correctly.
  • correctly interpret literacy data and plan effective Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) interventions.
  • develop your administrative and leadership responsibilities, including to more effectively recruit and retain staff, plan
  • professional development opportunities, and strengthen the schedule, routines, and curricula provided to youth.

What will a Project RISE coach do at my program?

A Project RISE coach will:

  • observe activities and routines to gain a deeper understanding of your program.
  • discuss your current strengths and areas you identify for growth with you.
  • work with you to create a coaching plan.
  • share new activity plans, materials, or other helpful resources to support your goals.
  • reflect with you on your progress towards meeting the goals you have set.

Programming hours are very busy. Can we meet at other times?

A Project RISE coach will meet with you and your team where and when it is most convenient for you, which may include:

  • on-site before or after programming.
  • off-site, perhaps over a cup of coffee, for a more relaxed atmosphere.
  • virtually via Zoom or Teams at times that are convenient for you.

I don’t have time to do more than my regular job. How can I make time for coaching?

Project RISE coaches understand that there are only so many hours in the day. Your coach wants to help make things easier for you and better for the children you serve.

What are the next steps?

Communicate with your coach how and when you would like to meet and whether you prefer communicating through email, texts or phone calls to schedule coaching sessions.
