Access Plus Program

Throughout the 2022-2023 academic year, approximately five college students with autism were supported by the Access Plus Program and were able to navigate their coursework and campus life successfully with the help of peer mentors and social coaches. The Access Plus program also provided students with junior and senior status an opportunity to develop their career development skills using Mursion software. Additionally, for the first time since the inception of the program, one Access Plus student even completed a communications internship at the Fischler College of Education & School of Criminal Justice to fulfill degree requirements. It’s wonderful to see the program evolve in the past four years and especially to be able to offer professional training and collaborate with other advocates to increase awareness and support for students in the Access Plus program. It’s also great news that three Access Plus students have graduated from NSU and are pursuing employment in their respective fields. NSU has also offered professional training and collaboration with faculty, department chairs, and staff to increase awareness and support for students in the Access Plus program.
