The Child Care Training Program

The Child Care Training Program, operating under the Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice, is the Broward County Training Coordinating Agency (TCA) for the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and remains dedicated to supporting child care providers by offering high-quality training programs. The program continues to foster community partnerships to benefit the community and enhance the retention of qualified child care providers.

Since 2021, more than 140 Spanish-speaking childcare directors from Miami-Dade County have successfully completed the Trauma-Informed Care Training for Directors course offered by the program. It is worth noting that this training was provided at no cost to the participants through an agreement with the Early Learning Career Center of the Children’s Forum. By providing this training, the program aims to equip directors with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and address the unique needs of children who have experienced trauma.

Additionally, since early 2022, over 1500 early care educators in Broward County have also completed the state-required training and exams at no cost. This accomplishment is a result of the program’s collaboration with the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, Inc. By removing financial barriers, the program ensures that early care educators have access to the necessary training and exams, allowing them to meet the state requirements for their profession.

These initiatives demonstrate the program’s commitment to supporting childcare providers in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. By providing accessible and cost-free training opportunities, the program enhances the professional development and competence of childcare providers, ultimately benefiting the children they serve and the overall quality of care in the community. The continued community partnerships are crucial in achieving these goals and strengthening the childcare industry as a whole.
