CAYUSE SPONSORED PROJECTS (SP) – IMPLEMENTATION UPDATE

Cayuse SP is a cloud-based software solution that streamlines proposal and award administration at NSU. As of July 1, Cayuse SP has been fully implemented! Since OSP’s “soft open” began in January, many researchers have already been working in Cayuse SP. For both new and returning users, here’s some important information you’ll need to know:

  • How do I access Cayuse SP?  Go to OSP’s new website at https://www.nova.edu/osp/cayuse.html and click on “Access Cayuse Here” to enter the Cayuse portal. On the OSP Cayuse site, you can check out information about Cayuse, FAQ’s, proposal and award process information, and resources for new users. You can also access the Cayuse platform directly at https://nova.app.cayuse.com/.
  • What has changed with Cayuse SP?  The Cayuse SP Proposal Record has replaced OSP’s Proposal Approval Record (PAR) form, and the Cayuse SP Award Record has replaced the Project Digest for active awards. Investigators, College administrators, Finance and OSP are now able to use Cayuse SP to route, store and access proposal and award information, documents, and outside interest disclosures within the Cayuse centralized platform
  • Is there training for new users?  Although Cayuse is quite intuitive, there are several tools to guide you through the process. Go to at https://www.nova.edu/osp/cayuse.html and click on “Resources for New Users” to find PDF Quick Guides, a brief overview training (coming soon), and access to Cayuse’s own resources housed within the system.

If you have trouble or need assistance with Cayuse SP, please email your OSP Grant Officer or contact NSUCayuseHelp@nova.edu.

CAYUSE OUTSIDE INTERESTS – ANNUAL DISCLOSURE CAMPAIGN COMPLETE BY JULY 31, 2023

As part of the Cayuse implementation, the DoR financial interest disclosure process has also transitioned to an electronic format via Cayuse’s Outside Interest module. With this transition, DoR has initiated a new Annual Disclosure Campaign that will take place in July each year.

Starting July 1, 2023, investigators will be required to complete one financial interest disclosure update in Cayuse each year, and PI’s will no longer have to complete separate updates for each project. Investigators will receive an initial email from “Cayuse Administration” and will have 30 days to complete their annual disclosure (investigators will still separately submit research-based disclosures for each new proposal submission, as required per federal regulations).

We have created a step-by-step user guide on how to access and complete your financial disclosure which can be found on our NSU Financial Conflict of Interest website at https://www.nova.edu/dor/fcoi/NSU-COI-Annual-Research-Based-User-Guide.pdf .

Note this process is separate from the NSU Office of Human Resources (OHR) policy on Conflicts of Interest and Commitment. This means if you disclosed a Conflict of Interest or Commitment through the NSU OHR disclosure process, you must also be sure to disclose it through Cayuse.

If you have any questions about the Annual Campaign, please email FCOI@nova.edu.
