A Vision for Cancer at NSU

On December 13, Translational Research and Economic Development (TRED) organized an interdisciplinary, interactive event focused on envisioning the future for cancer-related work at NSU. The event had 86 attendees with participants from 11 colleges and three cancer research institutes at NSU. We heard from a panel of cancer experts on how we can bring our strengths together to develop an extraordinary cancer research program at NSU, and polled attendees to assess our breadth of expertise in cancer research, treatment, and palliative care. A collaborative visioning activity produced ideas on strategic direction and unique NSU resources, areas of strength, or other features that make us well-suited to impact cancer research, collaboration, and practice.

We appreciated the enthusiastic engagement from across the institution and look forward to the next steps for advancing our cancer research capacity, as well as future visioning events around other areas of strength at NSU.

We also extend a special thanks to our six panelists: Dr. Johannes Vieweg, Dr. Jean Latimer, Dr. Stephen O’Brien, Dr. Stephen Grant, Dr. Appu Rathinavelu, and Dr. Gesulla Cavanaugh.
