From the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine…

NSU MD’s Department of Population Health Sciences (Pop Health), led by Dr. Julie Jacko, partnered with the Health Foundation of South Florida (HFSF), and recently launched the PATHWell Collaborative, a unique South Florida initiative funded by The Foundation to reduce health inequities in our community. With a focus on vulnerable children and adults, the objective is to create and validate proven interventions that address social determinants of health, eliminate structural barriers, and improve access to health care for all.

PATHWell is composed of a multidisciplinary team of experts led by NSU MD and HFSF, in collaboration with the Huizenga College of Business, colleagues in the community, Memorial Healthcare System and Cano Health. NSU faculty who are key personnel on the grant include Dr. Julie Jacko (PI/PD), Dr. François Sainfort (Co-PI), Dr. Amanda Chase, Dr. Will Hawks, Dr. Arkene Levy, Dr. Stuart Marcus, Dr. Tim Page, and Dr. Johannes Vieweg. Dr. David Nash, Visiting Scholar in NSU MD Pop Health, is chairing the Expert Advisory Board and Dr. Thao Tran, of Provider Network Services and former HFSF Board Chair, is chairing the Community Advisory Board. Ms. Peyton Buettner is serving as Project Coordinator. This award represents a $1M investment by The Health Foundation of South Florida to transform our community, and improve lives.
