Support Units – CCR & Core Research Facilities

The Center for Collaborative Research (CCR) at Nova Southeastern University is a state-of-the-art research center with the highest quality scientific equipment, facilities, and staff to support cutting-edge research. The Core Research Facilities located in the CCR promote research excellence, offering five different facilities (Cell Therapy, Flow Cytometry, Imaging, Genomics, and Vivarium) available to all NSU research programs and their collaborating partners. Operating as fee-for-service facilities, all are available to external researchers as well. Dr. Robin Krueger serves as the scientific director and Ms. Awilda Ortiz provides administrative support.

Dr. Robin Krueger, MPH, PhD directs the operations of NSU’s Core Facilities as well as Shared Resources located in Center for Collaborative Research (CCR). Specializing in gene and cell therapies, Dr. Krueger has over 20 years of experience in research laboratories, regulatory compliance, and research administration. Her background ranges from public health surveillance of emerging viral threats with the Florida State Department of Health to optimizing receptor targeted gene transduction using retroviral vectors at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Krueger is involved in several committees which oversee various programs related to NSU Research. Dr. Krueger has a B.S. in Biology from Jacksonville University and went on to earn a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from University of South Florida. Dr. Krueger received her Ph.D. in Virology and Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee in 2013.

 

Ms. Awilda Ortiz has been with NSU for six years. Four years with the central NSU research department (TRED) and previously with Enrollment and Student Services. She provides administrative support to Dr. Robin Krueger by directing and assisting with the operations of NSU’s Core Research Facilities as well as several Shared Resources and other departments located in the Center for Collaborative Research (CCR). Ms. Ortiz is the main contact for employees and outside guests visiting the fourth floor of the CCR.
