It’s that time of year again, the Fall 2022 semester begins Monday, August 22, 2022 and with it brings new students and new six sigma black belt projects.
Already ahead of the curve, Process Improvement senior students have teamed up for their final course: the Process Improvement Practicum (PIM 5465). This year, 3 teams have teamed together to solve a complex problem using the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology. Students are given 16 weeks to complete a project, presenting their findings to students and faculty alike. Upon successful completion of the project, students will qualify to sit for their ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt exam, also known as the ASQ CSSBB. This marks the 8th year for program and will be the concentration’s 30th black belt project since the requirement began.
In new student news, the PI program welcomes 11 new students in the Fall 2022 term. Students will begin a recently improved Quality Management (PIM 5450) course now featuring virtual reality. Both online and in-person students will meet synchronously in a virtual reality space to learn the essentials of quality including how to form KPIs and make impacts to their Balanced Scorecards. The course will also feature 360 video recordings of processes from NSU PI partner City Furniture giving students the ability to see processes virtually without having to be there in person.
