Virtual Reality in the PI Classroom

NSU’s Process Improvement program is upholding the university’s core value of Innovation by incorporating virtual reality (VR) technology in the classroom. Graduate students in the Quality Management course get virtual exposure to quality on a service level using real life work examples from our partners such as City Furniture in Sunrise, FL.

In each class, students meets synchronously in a VR space experiencing real life quality simulations. On the experience, one student wrote:

“The class was stimulating and informative, especially the VR session. Understanding quality on a service level is essential when you decide on where to spend your money. In addition, quality plays into knowledge, skills, and desire when making these decisions. Using the chair manufacturer was an excellent way to engage every level of sensory thought, from visual to touch. The desirability could involve what motivates the purchase at an affordable price point.”

Currently the class has experimented with 3 VR sessions which can be watched at the links below. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the PI program or getting involved in virtual reality please contact Associate Professor of Decision Sciences, Dr. Steve Kramer at steve.kramer@nova.edu.
